James
Edward Blake Graham was born March 29, 1926 on the family
farm, Township of Dawn, Ontario. He grew up there during
the Great Depression. A rebellion with education was
resolved when he accepted his school-teacher mother’s
advice to return to school. In veterinary college he
met his wife-to-be of the next forty years. He began
veterinary practice in 1952 in Toronto, leaving in 1975
for a career in real estate. Following his wife’s
struggle with breast cancer, he founded the Barbara
Graham Breast Cancer Fund. Family life, including a
second marriage, played an important part in his life.
